U.S. and California Economic Outlook for 2013

Presented by Dr. Esmael Adibi, Chapman University

The European debt crisis, the turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa, and the federal and state budget deficits are negatively impacting the current weak economic recovery.  Dr. Adibi will discuss the current state of the national and the state economy and present the forecast for 2013.  The presentation will explore the role of monetary and fiscal policies in stimulating the national economy and will provide answers to the following questions:

Is the economy gaining traction or headed for another recession?
What is the outlook for the job market?
Residential market: Are we at the bottom?
What is the outlook for the commercial real estate market?
What will happen to interest rates?

Dr. Adibi is the director of the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research and Anderson Chair of Economic Analysis. Dr. Adibi joined the Chapman Faculty in 1978, and was appointed director of the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research in 1985.
